Fans of the ghost who walks will have to walk to Ireland for this issue.
2016 is the 80th anniversary of the pulp comics hero the Phantom, and for the occasion there is a special one-shot comic book scheduled to be released… but you’ll have to go to Dublin, Ireland to get it.
Dublin Comic Con has reached an agreement with King Features Syndicate, the owner of the Phantom, to produce an exclusive one-shot coinciding with the character’s 80th anniversary. The issue will be sold during the convention, which is scheduled for August 6 and 7 at Dublin’s Convention Centre. All proceeds will be donated to three nearby children’s hospitals: Tallaght Hospital’s Children Ward, Temple Street Children’s Hospital, and Crumlin Children’s Hospital.
This special 80th anniversary Phantom one-shot will have short comic strips by local cartoonists, as well as reprints of Lee Falk’s original strips as well as backmatter on historial articles on the character, Falk, and King Features Syndicate.
