RAFAEL ALBUQUERQUE’s BATMAN #1 variant cover may reveal REBIRTH’s JOKER.

Rafael Albuquerque has revealed his Fried Pie variant forBatman #1 via an Instagram post – but has he revealed more than that?

The cover features a Joker very reminiscient of Jared Leto’s take on the character in the upcoming Suicide Squad film, wearing a white suit seemingly homaging The Dark Knight Returns. Is this a simple homage, or a glimpse at Rebirth‘s version of the clown prince of crime?

Albuquerque is the regular artist on Rebirth‘s Batgirl. Batman #1 is on shelves June 15.

DC co-publisher Jim Lee says there’s more to the company’s new logo than meets the eye. According to the artist-turned-executive, the new logo – which coincides with the launch of Rebirth – is meant to evoke the insignia of DC’s biggest heroes – Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

« The nooks and angles are meant to evoke the Superman ‘S’, the Wonder Woman ‘WW’ emblem and the Bat logo, » Lee explained on an Instagram post.

The new logo will debut with the DC Universe: Rebirth one-shot that hits shelves May 25.

You don’t need super senses to see what’s hiding in DC’s new logo.

The Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off isn’t going to series.

Marvel Studios may be on an almost unprecedented winning streak on the big screen and Netflix seems like another winning play, but their broadcast network-ABC corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t quite hitting home runs like their theatrical and streaming cousins.

According to Variety, fresh off the cancellation of Agent Carter , ABC has passed on the pilot of what was once considered an almost certain-pick-up, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off Marvel’s Most Wanted for the upcoming season.

The series would have focused on Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki) and Lance Hunter (Nick Blood). Delroy Lindo was also cast as Marvel Comics character Dominic Fortune. There is no word if Palicki or Blood will return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which was renewed for a fourth season by the Disney-owned network back in March.

This is the second time a Mockingbird S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off has been cancelled. ABC was originally developing one for the 2015-2016 season but cancelled plans at this same time last year, only to revive it again as Most Wanted.

Bruce Timm promised some additions, and there’s already more blood on the BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE cover.

Warner Bros. Animation has announced that the animated adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke will be released digitally on July 26, with a home video version on August 2. The R-rated animated film features the return of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill in their popular voice-acting roles as Batman and the Joker, respectively. The film’s script was written by Brian Azzarello, and directed by Sam Liu, based of course on the iconic Alan Moore-Brian Bolland story.

“Batman: The Killing Joke presents one of the most compelling stories in the annals of Batman’s adventures: the evolution of the Joker from normalcy to criminal insanity. This was a very challenging story to tell because of the intense, often disturbing storyline, but we are extremely pleased with how true to the graphic novel we have been in this original film.” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing. “Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is proud to release Batman: The Killing Joke as an authentic representation of its revered story for both longtime fans and new fans alike.”

Conroy and Hamill are joined by Tara Strong as Barbara Gordon and Ray Wise as Commissioner Gordon.

As part of the home video release, a special Blu-ray Deluxe edition will also include a numbered, limited edition gift set including an exclusive Joker figurine.

The Kryptonian orphan finds a second home on the CW.

After several weeks of speculation and uncertainty, Supergirl has been renewed for a second season – but it’s not without changes.

Supergirl will move to CBS’s sister network CW, which is already home to Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and The Flash, which recently crossed over with Supergirl.

According to Deadline, Supergirl will also reportedly relocate filming from Los Angeles to Vancouver, a move that is designed to reduce the show’s budgetary requirements, which were cited as one of the main obstacles to its renewal at CBS.

The Flash, Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow already film in Vancouver, and are overseen – like Supergirl – by Greg Berlanti’s Berlanti Productions. The CW’s iZombieand NBC’s Powerless also film in Vancouver.

Though Deadline doesn’t outright say if Supergirl will also “move” to the shared DC TV Universe of The Flash, Arrow and Legends, given this season’s Flash crossover, the multiple Earths already established in The Flash, and DC’s history with universe-merging Crises, a merge is both possible and probably beneficial.

DC Comics themselves seem to play into this Crisis-style crossover possibility, stating on their website: « Considering how popular Season 1’s Flash crossover episode was, one can imagine more team-ups with The CW’s other heroes may await in her future, but we’ll have to wait until Season 2 debuts next fall to know for certain. »

Last week, Marvel released a teaser image promising a « long awaited return » tied to Avengers: Standoff!. It has since been revealed that the returning hero is none other than Quasar, wielder of the cosmic-powered Quantum Bands.

And while the most memorable Quasar, Wendell Vaughan, returns in Standoff! to pass on the mantle, the new Quasar is a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent named Avril Kincaid. Kincaid retrieves the Quantum Bands in this week’s Avengers: Standoff! Assault on Pleasant Hill Omega and assumes the Quasar name.

The cast and crew of STAR TREK BEYOND discuss the film’s underlying questions about the nature of STARFLEET and THE FEDERATION.

The release of Star Trek Beyond will coincide with the franchise’s 50th anniversary, and the film will celebrate by asking deep questions about the nature of Star Trek, and about the Federation, the fictional organization at the heart of the franchise.

« This is the 50th anniversary,” director Justin Lin told Empire. “I felt like it was important to really deconstruct the idea of Star Trek, the idea of the Federation and why it’s special. We’ll really be poking at a lot of different things. »

« They’ve come to rest at a Federation outpost, a sort of diplomatic hub, » explained star Simon Pegg. « We’re gathering a great community within the galaxy, but to what end? What does it all mean? »

The questions will be raised by the villainous Krall, played by Idris Elba. Krall, a member of a new species introduced in Star Trek Beyond, has a « well earned hatred » of the Federation.

“What’s interesting about him is that he has a real beef with what the Enterprise stands for,” Elba told Entertainment Weekly. “Krall’s a character who’s deeply steeped in hatred — in my opinion, a well-earned hatred — for the Federation. It felt quite political. There’s a relatability to what’s happening in our world. Not everybody’s happy with what everybody calls the good guys.”

Star Trek Beyond hits theaters July 22.

Superior no more — but back in, apparently, his own body.

A sixth Dead No More teaser image has been released by Marvel Comics, unveiling the widely-speculated Doctor Octopus. However in this new image by Alexander Lozano, the one-time « Superior » Spider-Man has new mechanical arms — as well as, apparently, a healthy body of his own again.

Otto Otavius has died on several occasions, but a copy of his consciousness is currently inhabiting the Living Brain as seen in Amazing Spider-Man. Octavius’ body was shown as dying in the build-up to Superior Spider-Man.
