While holding a Doctor Strange comic book, director Scott Derrickson officially announced that he has wrapped filming on his upcoming Marvel film.
At the beginning of November 2015, principal photography began on Doctor Strange in Nepal. A week later, production made its home in London for nearly five-months. However, this weekend, filming wrapped up in New York City with some action sequences being filmed that featured Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Mads Mikkelsen.
Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
Scott Derrickson is directing with a cast that includes Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen Strange, Tilda Swinton as The Ancient One, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo, Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer, a.k.a. Night Nurse, Benedict Wong as Wong and Mads Mikkelsen will play an unspecified villain role.
Marvel’s Dr. Strange will cast a spell on audiences November 4, 2016.

Superior no more — but back in, apparently, his own body.
A sixth Dead No More teaser image has been released by Marvel Comics, unveiling the widely-speculated Doctor Octopus. However in this new image by Alexander Lozano, the one-time « Superior » Spider-Man has new mechanical arms — as well as, apparently, a healthy body of his own again.
Otto Otavius has died on several occasions, but a copy of his consciousness is currently inhabiting the Living Brain as seen in Amazing Spider-Man. Octavius’ body was shown as dying in the build-up to Superior Spider-Man.

STAR-LORD Writer Sam Humphries gets a grip on DC’s Green Lantern Corps.
Step aside, Hal Jordan, and prepare for two new recruits to take the lead. Launching in June as part of DC’s Rebirth, the new ongoing series Green Lanterns pairs Jennifer Cruz and Simon Baz in what former Marvel exclusive writer Sam Humphries calls « Lethal Weapon with alien technology. »
Kicking off with Green Lanterns: Rebirth #1 illustrated by veteran GL artist Ethan Van Sciver, the bi-monthly series itself will be drawn by Robson Rocha and Adrian Syaf. In it, Humphries promises to explore the entire emotional spectrum through the eyes of these two rookie recruits.
Newsarama chatted with Humphries after the Rebirthannouncements at WonderCon 2016 to find out how Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz fit into the DC Universe, what his first arc, “Red Dawn,” is all about, and how his Earth-boundGreen Lanterns will still be “epic” on a cosmic scale.
Newsarama: Sam, let’s talk about Green Lanterns.
Sam Humphries: Yes! Green Lanterns. I’m glad you enunciated the “S” cause that’s what this book is all about. The plural. There are two new Green Lanterns of Earth. These are the Green Lanterns of Earth, Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz. And I’ve been calling it “Lethal Weapon with alien technology.”
Nrama: Let’s talk about Jessica Cruz and Simon Baz. These are characters who have been established in the DC Universe, but this is their first real spotlight. What’s your take on these characters and their relationship?
Humphries: Their relationship is what this story is all about. They’re partners, they’re rookies, they’ve been thrown into this situation but they don’t know what to make of each other. They don’t know if they can trust each other. They don’t know if they should be afraid of each other. And just like that dynamic that you see in other great cop movies and TV shows, that’s the kinda dynamic that we’re gonna start with, and we’re gonna give it a real strong DC Universe twist.

Le tournage de la suite des « Gardiens de la Galaxie » bat son plein à Atlanta. Lors d’une séance de questions-réponses avec les fans, le réalisateur James Gunn était interrogé sur ce qu’il va faire après « Les Gardiens de la Galaxie 2 ».
Le cinéaste a dit que Marvel a déjà parlé de la suite de l’aventure avec lui : « Là, actuellement, je suis seulement absorbé par la réalisation des Gardiens de la Galaxie 2. Je ne sais pas encore ce que je vais faire après ça… Marvel a parlé de la suite avec moi. Je ne suis pas sûr de vouloir le faire ou non, ni de ce que je veux faire. Je veux vraiment faire des Gardiens de la Galaxie 2 le film le plus impressionnant, autant que je peux, et je veux que ce soit le plus honnête et le plus sincère possible. »
James Gunn a fait savoir que le tournage du film arrivera à son terme en juin et sa projection au cinéma se fera en mai 2017. Marvel a déjà publié son calendrier de films prévus jusqu’en 2020. Si un 3ème « Gardiens de la Galaxie » est au programme, sa production ne commencera pas avant 2019.
En outre, certains rôles pourraient avoir été dévoilés concernant les personnages d’Elizabeth Debicki (“Agents très spéciaux”), Tommy Flanagan (“Gladiator”) et Chris Sullivan (“The Knick”). Selon Comic Book Movie, Debicki jouera Ayesha, Flanagan sera Tullk et Sullivan sera Taserface. Cette information est encore au stade de rumeur pour le moment.
Par ailleurs, le réalisateur a posté de nouvelles photos, dont une esquisse qui tease l’apparition du père de Star Lord. Chris Pratt a également publié une courte vidéo sur le tournage :

Sans surprise, le très attendu Batman V Superman : L’aube de la Justice s’impose en tête du box-office pour sa première semaine en salles. Derrière lui, Médecin de campagne fait une excellente entrée en seconde place, tandis que Divergente 3 : au-delà du mur est relégué en bas du podium.
Les gagnants de la semaine
Plus fort que Man of Steel mais beaucoup moins que The Dark Knight Rises,Batman V Superman fait un excellent démarrage, mais peut-être moins puissant comparé à son niveau d’attente. Toutefois, le blockbuster passe bien évidemment le cap du million et confirme ainsi son succès international.
Thomas Lilti peut être ravi : deux ans après Hippocrate, le réalisateur parvient à faire un démarrage doublement meilleur que son film précédent avecMédecin de campagne qui ne devrait pas avoir beaucoup de mal à passer la barre du million d’entrées. Enfin, Zootopie est le second film de l’année à atteindre les 4 millions de tickets déchirés après Les Tuche 2.
Les perdants de la semaine
L’association entre Gérard Depardieu et Médi Sadoun n’a rien pu faire face à Batman V Superman puisque la comédie La Dream Team n’entre qu’à la huitième place du box-office. Immense déception également pour le film Aux yeux de tous qui réunit pourtant un trio de choc formé par Nicole Kidman, Julia Roberts et Chiwetel Ejiofor. Le film ne se hisse en effet qu’au vingtième rang avec seulement 15 627 entrées.
